Awards: Awards Descriptions

Awards consist of the following:

  1. Significant Contribution Service Award (one-time contribution and over-time contributions)
  2. Innovation Award
  3. Visionary Leadership Award
  4. New Member Recognition
  5. Honorary Lifetime Membership (note: nominations for this award are not solicited through the traditional process - see nominations SOP). 
 
Significant One-Time Contribution Service Award
 
Purpose: To recognize a one-time significant contribution of an individual or team in support of the mission and vision of the MBA CSEA.
 
Target / Eligibility: The nominee(s) can be a current or past member of the MBA CSEA.
 
Award Criteria: The nominee(s) must have provided a significant contribution to the MBA CSEA in the form of a one-time, non-monetary contribution. Contributions may include, but are not limited to:
  • An important service or resource
  • An industry-leading best practice
  • Leadership to achieve an important initiative, event, or strategic goal

Significant Over-Time Contribution Service Award

 
Purpose: To recognize significant contributions of an individual or team over time in support of the mission and vision of the MBA CSEA.
 
Target / Eligibility: The nominee(s) can be a current or past member of the MBA CSEA.
 
Award Criteria: The nominee(s) must have provided multiple historical and/or on-going contributions to the MBA CSEA representing a body of work over time. Contributions may include, but are not limited to:
  • Important services or resources
  • Industry leading best practices
  • Leadership to achieve important initiatives, events, or strategic goals

Innovation Award


Purpose: To recognize individuals, teams, departments, or organizations whose innovative idea, process, program, or practice supports the mission and vision of the MBA CSEA.
 
Target / Eligibility: The nominee(s) must be a current school or employer member of MBA CSEA.
 
Award Criteria: The nominee(s) must have developed a significant innovation that benefitted students, a career center, a talent acquisition team, or the MBA CSEA.  Contributions may be defined as an important service or resource or an industry leading best practice.  Criteria for evaluation includes:
  • Inventiveness – the innovation must have been the creation of new or reshaping of traditional products or services that demonstrably increased the organization's value and effectiveness to the career services or recruitment community.
  • Impact - the product, application or service benefitted the industry in a unique way. The innovation must have provided a significant improvement in the process by which a service was delivered or a significant improvement in student/recruitment outcomes.
  • Timeliness - the innovation must have been around long enough to be tested so that it meets the criteria of inventiveness and impact.
  • Testing: the innovation must have already been implemented and evaluated.
  • Need solution: the innovation must have addressed a clearly defined need.
  • Clear outcome: the innovation must have specific and measurable outcomes.
  • Replication:  the innovation must be capable of replication or adaptation by other organizations.

Visionary Leadership Award

 
Purpose: To recognize friends of the MBA CSEA who have provided outstanding leadership in advancing MBA CSEA or our profession in a significant and measured way.
 
Target / Eligibility: The nominee(s) may be from the public or private sector and must exemplify the mission and values of MBA CSEA, including those who have made a significant contribution(s) to MBA/graduate business career services or the talent acquisition industry. Possible considerations include, but are not limited to, those with national prominence in a partnering organization; those associated with an affiliate organization, business school deans, corporate executives, representatives of the media, and politicians.
 
Award Criteria: The individual or team must have contributed  unique vision and leadership through the creation or reinvention of a program or initiative that clearly supports the MBA CSEA mission and values and the MBA career services and/or talent acquisition industry.
 
Mel Penn New Member Recognition Award
 
Purpose: To recognize the significant and/or unique contributions by a new member.
 
Target / Eligibility: The nominee(s) must be a current school or employer member of MBA CSEA for less than 3 years.
 
Award Criteria: The nominee(s) must have made a significant and/or unique contribution to an MBA CSEA committee that results in improvements to the committee in the form of improved processes, procedures, creations or achieved results beyond expectations.
 
Honorary Lifetime Membership
 
Purpose: To recognize members who made a significant contribution to the MBA CSEA and are retiring from the profession and workforce.
 
Target / eligibility: Awarded to a member of at least 5 years who is retiring from either a university or HR/MBA staffing position.
 
Award Criteria: Eligibility for Honorary Lifetime membership is granted by a majority vote of the Board to professionals who have contributed significantly to the field of MBA career services and/or HR/recruiting and to the MBA CSEA organization and who are no longer eligible for School, Employer, or Associate membership. (An Honorary lifetime member who subsequently becomes eligible for School, Employer, or Associate membership must relinquish honorary membership.)
 
Benefits: Honorary members will be exempt from paying membership dues, but may not hold office or vote. They may participate on committes. They may attend the Opening Reception and/or gala event at the conferences at no charge. They may also receive a $150 discount on their conference attendance.
