In June of 2020, at UC Davis a Call to Action was sent out to the community to bring together Faculty, Staff, Students, Alumni & Friends of the GSM (Corporate Partners) in conversation to address the issues of systemic racism and how this community could make explicit change. Join this webinar to hear a significant case study for making initial inroads in bringing together diverse communities in a College of Business and learn the role the career services office played. Learn how this community came together to explicitly address anti-racism through learning, growing and implementing community changes. Our expectation is attendees will come away from this session invigorated in implementing opportunities for whole communities to come together, and to build a community where all who join the meeting can share out ways to engage our career services communities.

Speakers:

Elizabeth Moon has been the Chief Diversity Officer for the University of California, Davis - Graduate School of Management (GSM) since December 2017, and Associate Director, Career Development since January 2014. In her dual roles she constantly strives to provide a place of inclusion for all members of the community, and has a long career working with global talent to achieve their professional goals. Her commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion began as a George Washington University undergraduate in her social anthropology program, and her acceptance into the 1991 Teach for America Corps. She believes there are stories that have not been heard, and it is incumbent upon people in power to create opportunities for those stories to have a platform for others to listen, learn and grow and implement actions that create a more inclusive community where each person feels they belong.
