Global Conference: Local Arrangements

The Local Arrangements Subcommittee manages non-programming related activities such as local information and entertainment, as well as information and activities to welcome attendees to the conference location.

Utilize the navigation tabs on the left side of the page to view the specific tasks associated with the committee responsibilities. Note that the overall conference schedule and activity offerings are determined at the leadership level based on resources and bandwidth on a year-to-year basis. Some activities in the SOPs might be put on hold each year based on overall goals and capacity.

What Makes a Successful Local Arrangements Committee?

Ideally, a good number of committee members will be located in or near the conference location so that they have a high level of familiarity with the local landscape. Additional committee members can be utilized to help distribute the workload. Committee members should be collaborative, open to new ideas, practical, and focused on contributing to the overall goals of the conference. Activities should be selected based on return on investment in order to maximize resources.
