Graduate Business Career Development, Associate Director, MBA Program

Graduate Business Career Development is seeking a new Associate Director to join our team of professionals serving our graduate business programs. The Associate Director of Graduate Business Career Services for the MBA program will oversee career education and employer relations functions for the residential MBA and joint MBA/MSBA programs. This includes coaching responsibility for students focused on General Management, Supply Chain, HR, and Technology careers. Coaching will focus on three areas: Understanding the hiring landscape, developing a personal value proposition based on strengths and interests, and communicating value via resume, cover letter, interviewing, digital platforms, and networking. Supplemental workshops, coaching, and networking events will be created by this role. This person will serve as the advisor to the technology club and will support our educational and employer initiatives in the Bay Area and other cities.

This role also includes employer relations responsibility. This person will be responsible for managing key employer relationships for on campus recruiting. This includes maintaining relationships with our top employers by providing a superior experience both on-campus and virtually. This role will manage interviews at our career center and maintain our CRM platform. This person will conduct in-person meetings with our top employers to ensure the needs of employers and students are being met. This role also includes conducting data analysis by leveraging our data to draw insights that lead to actions and innovations.

Additional duties include:

- Coaching and mentoring: Provide assistance to students in groups and one-on-one; assist Career Development team in providing best in class assistance to MBA students. Oversee industry or functional areas of interest to MBA students (technology, general management, supply chain). Interact with faculty, alumni, and student club officers in assigned areas and develop approaches helpful to students and employers in this group.

- Support the execution of our Career Leadership Course, which is a required class for all MBAs. This could include teaching elements of the class like interviewing, networking, and job search strategies.

- Lead key initiatives such as the annual Bay Area Trek with first-year MBAs seeking opportunities in technology.

- Help maintain our recruiting and CRM technology platform DOME. Leverage data and provide insights that lead to action to improve the student and employer experience.

- Supervise daily implementation of work priorities across both student and employer events and programs. Assist Career Development team as needed on variety of projects.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
  • Have a passion for and experience in coaching/mentoring students
  • Five or more years of professional experience. Active in professional organizations, experience with diverse populations.
  • Ability to interact with corporate recruiters to facilitate the successful recruitment of students.
  • Excellent public speaking, interpersonal, verbal/written communication skills. This person must possess the ability to communicate as well as develop and maintain relationships with students from a wide variety of social, ethnic and economic backgrounds. In addition, the Associate Director will interact with employer representatives ranging from CEOs to new graduate business hires.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, including the ability to independently prioritize work, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, set goals and enforce deadlines, while maintaining the flexibility to reassess and prioritize goals.
  • Strong analytical skills and a proven record of managing CRM systems
  • Required to attend meetings and travel solo and with groups of students, at various locations both on and off campus. Also, will visit employers and alumni throughout the United States and possibly internationally.
  • Must be able to work with little direct supervision, perform under pressure, plan ahead by anticipating problems and forecasting outcomes, and deal with difficult individuals while maintaining composure.
  • Master’s degree in business administration, counseling, student personnel, higher education, or a Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of theoretical knowledge of higher education issues such as student development, career counseling, and the unique needs of non-traditional and graduate students, or a broad understanding of careers typically pursued by graduate business students and an in-depth understanding of the college recruiting process
  • Experience in hiring MBAs in Technology
  • Five to ten years of prior experience in graduate business career development, or a similar level of professional experience with recruiting or executive search, as well as supervisory experience.
  • Experience with on-campus recruiting software programs. Proficiency in statistical analysis. Proficiency in database management/development.
  • Experience in academic program planning/development
  • Experience in technology industry for a Fortune 500 company
