Associate Director, Career Management
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Associate Director, Career Management is part of a global Career Services team providing career management support to Chicago Booth MBA students and alumni. This role, based at the Gleacher Center, primarily functions as a coach and educator for students in the Evening MBA (~750) and Weekend MBA (~450) programs, as well as alumni (53,000+).  As a coach, the AD provides one-on-one and small group support for all phases of the career and job search lifecycle. As a career educator, the AD creates and facilitates innovative career management programming including large classroom, experiential learning, special events and panels, and via e-learning media such as webinars, video casts, designed instructional tools, and sourcing expert alumni and corporate volunteers.
 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coach working professional domestic and international students and alumni on appropriate career management and job search skills in one-on-one, small and large group settings, and virtually.
  • Provide career coaching support for a wide variety of MBA career paths and goals – including career changers, those seeking promotional advancement with their current firms, and entrepreneurs.
  • Conceptualize, innovate, develop, and facilitate the delivery of career education (knowledge and skill building) including workshops, panel discussions, large scale conferences in person and via e-learning/media.
  • Create self-guided and/or interactive learning resources, such as scripted content and video, for intranet and LMS platforms.
  • Continually develop and maintain knowledge of market and industry trends, and MBA roles across a wide spectrum of industries and functions; partner with Employer Relations to stay current on firm trends and recruiting processes.
  • Collaborate with career services colleagues and across Booth to build and maintain institutional knowledge, gain synergies, and design and implement strategic and tactical solutions that advance the career goals of students and alumni.
  • Consult and partner with several industry, regional, and/or functional student groups to assess and support recruiting needs and assist in planning and delivering career-management related programming.
  • Solicit and analyze student and alumni feedback and evaluations and help strategize with Career Management team, student organizations, or other Booth staff to determine program offerings and innovations.
  • Manage or lead various special projects/programs that provide career-related support or strategic initiatives to address needs of special constituencies.
  • Acquire, maintain, and apply knowledge of proprietary career research databases and resources, and utilize with relevant constituencies through one-on-one coaching appointments, live and virtual presentations, and online and print content.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in business, counseling, or related field strongly preferred.
  2. Experience in MBA career management, recruiting, or student services fields preferred.
  3. A minimum of 5 years of experience in business or higher education required.
  4. Experience with, knowledge of, or demonstrated interest in business careers  required.
  5. Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills required.
  6. Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and project management skills required.
  7. Significant knowledge of and demonstrated experience using on-line resources, spreadsheets, and presentation software (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
  8. Ability to work on evenings and weekends regularly required.
  9. An understanding of and appreciation for the needs and concerns of a diverse MBA student body preferred.
  10. Deep commitment to customer service and the ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work successfully in a fast-paced environment required.
  11. Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated initiative, and the ability to work both independently and within a team required.
