MBA Professional Development Manager
Job Purpose
Provide high quality careers, employability, coaching and professional development advice and guidance to MBA students; design / deliver professional development programmes (on and offline) incorporating coaching, employability workshops, industry and corporate insight sessions for MBA cohorts.
Main Responsibilities Design, manage and deliver a Professional Development and Employability skills programme for Cass MBA students
Identify the evolving needs of Cass MBA students e.g. Online MBA and design a programme to fit their needs, both on-campus and on-line which reflects the demands of target organisations / employers
Analyse and act upon feedback to ensure programme remain effective, relevant and high quality
Constantly develop the programme to introduce unique elements which support the creation of a strong Cass brand and a differentiated offering from competitors
Design and manage on-campus face-face Careers and Professional Development initiatives for the courses as well as an on-line offering
Identify and meet with existing and potential suppliers for the delivery of the programme and manage subsequent tender, procurement and evaluation processes
Ensure excellence in execution in relation to all events (attention to detail essential with regard to future planning, booking and briefing of suppliers, managing multiple and concurrent programmes, promoting events and recording attendance using the Cass Careers System)
Ensure accuracy of reporting processes in relation to sign up and attendance for internal use and to share with students
Manage and monitor relevant budgets for MBA Professional Development and Employability skills programmes where required
Create and deliver webinars, small group sessions or large presentations/workshops on all aspects of careers work and topics related to careers and professional development (on and off-line)
Design, develop and deliver engaging, high impact employability and careers sessions presenting to current and new cohorts creating a positive / credible first impression for the department
Design and deliver workshop content, levelled to an MBA audience, on topics including but not limited to: Interview Skills, CV Development, Cover Letters, Assessment Centres, Psychometrics and Networking
Attend residential / weekend programmes as and when required (approx. 2 per year)
Provide information, advice and guidance to help MBA students make realistic choices about employment opportunities:
Meet with current MBA students and alumni on an individual basis (face to face or virtual) to coach and advise on topics including, but not limited to: Careers services and resources that are available to them, career planning, job search and networking strategies, interview preparation (and conduct mock interviews), CV development, reviews and tailoring for specific job opportunities, cover letter and application reviews, LinkedIn reviews and guidance on assessment and selection methods
Develop and maintain relevant networks to ensure up to date labour market information, legislation, and professional and academic developments by visiting employers, training providers and training events run by educational and professional bodies
Manage the process of preparing CV and Profile Books where required (including content and formatting) for different cohorts each year alongside colleagues
Link students in with alumni (and other potential useful contacts) to help them with interview preparation (i.e. sourcing appropriate alumni and introducing them to students)
Identify on-line resources, books, websites, periodicals, networking forums and external websites that can be used by students
Collaborate with students to ensure they have a clear career plan and advise on which Cass Careers Services they should engage with to achieve this plan
Develop maintain and evaluate online and physical careers resources and programmes for postgraduate students
Contribute to plans which enhance access to career advice and training materials (e.g. online, pre-joining, app based)
Develop expertise of the Careers System (CCO) and Bright space (on-line portal) and any further LMS Systems required
Keep abreast of evolving LMS and other on-line learning platform trends
Support the development of on-line careers services, as and when required for new on-line courses
Identify appropriate resources for the students to use to facilitate their job search including books, magazines, newspapers, trade journals, databases, websites and other materials at the appropriate level
Keep abreast of evolving media trends such as social networking, podcasts, webinars and support the Learning and Resources Consultant to ensure resources are up to date
Manage key relationships with supplier organisations and specialist coaches / industry experts, including relevant budget planning
Identify, source and manage existing relationships with external suppliers delivering employability skills training and coaching
Design, manage and evaluate coaching programmes for relevant MBA courses
Ensure suppliers are effectively and regularly briefed on school news & cohort profiles to maintain a sense of affiliation and so that suppliers are well informed for sessions
Share qualitative / quantitative student feedback regularly with suppliers; attend sessions to conduct regular session reviews and provide feedback
Negotiate with suppliers to secure the best possible rate for delivery; follow procurement and tendering processes in line with City Guidelines
Ultimately responsible for staying within budget and liaising with the relevant Careers Co-ordinator to ensure correct supplier set up and invoicing
Attend conferences, seminars, training and networking events (International (potentially) and UK) throughout the year
Network with other school Career Services to compare service offering and share intelligence where beneficial
Stay on top of current recruitment trends / recent developments in the Careers, Coaching, Online delivery and L&D world trends
Contribute to Internal / External Communications for the Careers team
Promote the Careers team’s achievements within the school and externally to raise profile and visibility of Career Team
Devise and implement the most effective ways to effectively communicate with students
Develop student newsletters communicating the Careers team’s activities
Provide input into the overall Careers strategy
Assist the Senior Management Team in shaping the overall set of services provided by the Careers team and input into the overall strategy
Look for gaps in the current service and for ways to improve existing services
Other Activities and Responsibilities:
Contribute to the content of marketing collateral (both online and offline e.g. website, monthly newsletter, collateral such as brochures, e-shots, case studies, testimonials)
Represent Careers at MBA Staff Student Liaison Committees where required
Support the organisation of Careers events where required for students, companies and / or PD Partners
Support admissions processes where relevant
Provide regular feedback in report (written or oral) format for heads of departments as and when required for Careers and cross department projects
Attend graduation ceremonies (collect up to date destination data where required)
Undertake ad hoc projects for the team that improve the service, e.g. working practices and processes
Experience of one-to-one career advice and working with career changers (career coaching qualification preferable) at a mid-career to senior level
Experience of CV and application screening for a diverse range of organisations; designing and delivering interviews and assessment centres
Knowledge of global recruitment practices and has the skills to deliver mock interviews to mid-senior carer level individuals
Has held a Senior Learning & Development or Talent Management role, or an Internal Recruitment role such as Recruitment Manager or equivalent with involvement in recruitment campaigns (preferably global)
Previous experience in the design, delivery and management of professional development and careers workshops and programme evaluation (preferably experience of delivering workshops such as CVs, Assessment Centres, Interview skills)
