Graduate Business Career Services, Associate Director, Master of Science in Finance Programs

Graduate Business Career Services is seeking a new Associate Director to join our team of professionals serving our graduate business programs. We are looking for a new team member that has a passion for working with students and employers. This role is a unique blend of mentoring, teaching, and business development. This person will work with students in the new Master of Science in Finance program, and the Chicago Master of Science in Finance program. In addition to working with students, this role includes working with employer partners to help them access talent and support from Notre Dame.

Key Responsibilities
• Counseling and mentoring: Work one-on-one and in groups with students to help them understand themselves, understand the marketplace for finance students, and to communicate their value to prospective employers.
• Develop and teach a career course that is required for MSF students and is a central component to their career development
• Oversee industry or functional areas of interest to students. Interact with faculty, alumni, and student club officers and develop approaches helpful to students and employers.
• Employer development: Lead in the development of employer relations strategies that help Notre Dame meet the growing needs of companies in the areas of of finance and analytics. Generate job opportunities for student, foster relationships with key and prospective recruiters.
• Leverage and build strong analytical skills to identify insights that lead to strategies that help students and employers.
• Work in a collaborative fashion with other areas of Graduate Business Programs, including student services, admissions, and alumni relations.

Minimum Qualifications

• Have a passion for coaching and mentoring students and a willingness to be held accountable for achieving high student and employer satisfaction.
• Bachelor’s Degree and Five or more years of professional experience in finance, business analytics, career services, or human resources.
• Understanding of career services and higher education issues such as student development, career counseling and the unique needs of non-traditional and graduate students, or a broad understanding of business careers typically pursued by graduate business students and an in-depth understanding of the college recruiting process.
• Ability to interact with corporate recruiters on an international scale to facilitate the successful recruitment of students.
• Excellent public speaking, interpersonal, verbal/written communication skills. This person must possess the ability to communicate as well as develop and maintain relationships with students from a wide variety of social, ethnic and economic backgrounds. In addition, the Associate Director will interact with corporate representatives ranging from CEOs to new graduate business hires.
• Excellent organizational and planning skills, including the ability to independently prioritize work, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, set goals and enforce deadlines, while maintaining the flexibility to reassess and prioritize goals.
• Required to attend meetings and travel solo and with groups of students, at various locations both on and off campus, particularly Chicago. Also, will visit employers and alumni throughout the United States and internationally
• Must be able to work with little direct supervision, perform under pressure, plan ahead by anticipating problems and forecasting outcomes, and deal with difficult individuals while maintaining composure

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in finance. Having knowledge of how finance and analytics is transforming how companies work and hire top graduate students. A passion for understanding finance and how students, employers, faculty, and career service professionals are addressing the opportunities in the business world.
• Graduate degree in counseling, higher education or an MBA.
• Prior experience in graduate business career services, or a similar level of professional experience with recruiting or executive search.
• Experience with on-campus recruiting software programs. Proficiency in statistical analysis. Proficiency in database management/development. Experience in academic program planning/development.
