Business Development Manager, Middle-Market Organizations

Under the general supervision of the director of the Parker Career Management Center (known as "Parker"), Business Development Manager, Middle-Market Organizations (BDM) oversees the business development efforts of Parker, including research, outreach, and relationship-building in order to strengthen UCLA Anderson's brand and increase employment opportunities with middle-market or mid-sized employer organizations in industries that are part of the school's strategic focus. Parker provides career services for UCLA Anderson's FTMBA and other select graduate students (approximately 750 students) and facilitates recruiting relationships with over 200 employers who are interested in connecting with students to meet their hiring needs through a variety of in-person and virtual recruiting methods, including the Campus Recruiting, job postings, networking events, and career fairs.
BDM will partner with Parker's internal teams as well as alumni office, employer relations, and student clubs to identify, cultivate, and establish new relationships with middle-market firms that do not have consistent recruiting relationships with UCLA Anderson and to expand existing relationships to uncover additional MBA-level internship and full-time employment opportunities for students. Some of the key industries of focus include Consulting, Financial Services, Technology, Healthcare, Real Estate, Media/Entertainment, Clean Energy, Consumer Goods, Sports, etc.
Key activities will include researching and building lists of target organizations, developing and executing the outreach strategy and plan, and partnering with the Recruiting Relations team to facilitate recruiting activities that are optimal for these types of employers. This outreach will happen through both in-person and virtual individual conversations/communications, at networking events and through the development and execution of employer-facing events including conferences, roundtables, and panel discussions. During these outreach opportunities, BDM will often consult and advise target employers on how to best target and recruit MBA level talent at UCLA Anderson. BDM will also take the lead (in collaboration with Parker club liaisons) in partnering with key student industry clubs to support the planning and execution of signature employer events (i.e. DOJs, Career Nights, etc.). BDM will also interface regularly with the Employer Relations team to complement and coordinate corporate outreach efforts across other programs and departments within UCLA Anderson.
This an exempt position and the salary range for this role is $90,000-$100,000 per year plus benefits available to full-time employees of UCLA. 

Direct Business Development Activities
  1. Develop a strong understanding of MBA recruiting landscape and job market in order to create and implement a year-round marketing strategy and outreach plan to connect with target employer partners and source employment opportunities for UCLA Anderson MBA students.
  2. Research and deep dive into key industries of strategic importance to create/ develop/ maintain/ update target list of firms for outreach and business development; share key insights and activities with Parker teams as well as other key stakeholders around the school.
  3. Creatively source leads from social media, students, and alumni, etc. and develop a forward-thinking strategy/ perspective to curate the target outreach list of firms across key industries.
  4. Conduct outreach, often cold-calling alumni and company representatives, and meet (virtually and in-person) with corporate contacts to establish relationships on behalf of Parker and UCLA Anderson and gain insight into MBA hiring and recruiting processes to increase job opportunities for UCLA Anderson students.
  5. Actively promote UCLA Anderson students and the school as a whole to target organizations as top source of business management and leadership talent for MBA internship and job opportunities.
  6. Partner with Recruiting Relations team to ensure coordinated engagement activities with target employers of strategic importance across UCLA Anderson.
Stakeholder Management and Communications
  1. Partner with Parker's student club liaisons and Recruiting Relations team to oversee the strategy, planning, and organization of the annual Days-On-the-Job/ Trek and other signature events involving employers, and collaborate with student clubs on their execution.
  2. Partner with Parker's Communications Manager to develop communication pieces; facilitate regular emails and other communications (newsletters, social media, Slack, etc.) of recruiting-related updates and content to other staff, students and employers including social media updates and presentations intended for various audiences to give stakeholders a view into the relationship development work happening on their behalf.
  3. Establish and maintain positive relationships with other Anderson departments (admissions, alumni relations, development, employer relations and student government) to promote employer development initiatives and relationship-building opportunities applicable to the entire school.
  4. Market resulting opportunities to the appropriate UCLA Anderson student populations via various communications channels.
Logistics and Administrative Management
  1. Become Parker's lead user of UCLA Anderson's various CRM platform (i.e. Salesforce, AWS) and familiar with Parker's recruiting management and other technology platforms (i.e. 12Twenty, MBA-Exchange.com, etc.) to capture learnings from meetings and communicate with appropriate stakeholders.
  2. Partner with Recruiting Relations team to oversee logistics, technology management and communications to run various career fairs and multi-company networking/recruiting events hosted throughout the year.

Travel periods may peak in November (for Trek/DOJ week) and in winter/spring. - Required
